William Kelly specialises in editorial/documentary‑style portraiture for private individuals and brands. Work that focuses on people, spirit, human interest — capturing presence, personality, and story in a way that feels elevated, natural, and timeless.
We primarily work with private individuals, professionals, creatives, brands and industry who value quality and want imagery that feels considered rather than generic or "pushed". Many of our clients are commissioning photography to mark a moment, build a personal brand, or tell a human‑centred story.
*It should be noted that a large proportion of clients come away from a shoot feeling empowered having finally seen themselves as others do, authentically and wholly - often for the first time
Firstly, be assured everyone is photogenic. This is a common concern before a shoot, and we’ll guide you throughout the session experience so nothing ever feels awkward or forced. The goal is not perfection — that comes naturally with authenticity and relaxed confidence. Most of the time you wont be aware I'm even pressing the shutter.
Almost all sessions are shot on location. Primarily this could be outdoors, at your home, workplace, or a carefully chosen setting that suits the concept we create together. We do however make use of a studio environment if or when needed.
Almost all sessions are shot on location. Primarily this could be outdoors, at your home, workplace, or a carefully chosen setting that suits the concept we create together, or indeed a studio. We do make use of a studio environment if or when needed. If you've been thinking of a particular studio styled shoot you'd love to do, and would prefer to book a studio, simply discuss this upon your initial inquiry and consultation.
We offer carefully curated session and product options, as well as fully customised commissions for brands or more complex personal collaborations. You can request a session guide for full details.
Pricing does start at a premium. Sessions are a well considered and curated investment and reflect the planning, experience, final imagery and final production quality delivered. Full details are shared in the session guide after your enquiry.
While standard photographic printing processes often use dye-based inks and standard photographic papers and substrates, giclée printing relies on complex technology. A giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) is a high-quality fine art reproduction made using specialized, ultra high-resolution inkjet printers. The term originates from the French word gicler, meaning "to spray". To qualify as a giclée, a print must use at minimum archival-quality, fade-resistant pigment inks and be printed on acid-free, archival paper. In our case, we take it one step further and only print on Museum quality 310gsm cotton rag paper.
Cotton Rag photographic paper is a premium, museum-quality paper made from 100% cotton fibres instead of wood pulp. Prized for its longevity, strength, and astounding light absorption, free of acidic compounds like lignin, making it the industry standard for museum-grade fine art photography and gallery reproductions. Standard wood-pulp paper contains lignin, which causes it to yellow and degrade over time. Cotton rag is naturally acid-free, allowing prints to last 100+ years without fading or yellowing when properly cared for.
The long, natural cotton fibres absorb pigment and dye inks deeply, yielding rich blacks, smooth gradients, and a William Kelly Print utilises luxurious 310gsm matte finish Cotton Rag paper rather than a gloss plastic look. Enhancing that dynamic resulting in a gallery look and feel.
William Kelly shoot sessions include, at the very least, your full consultation and pre-shoot process, your shoot session and your preferred "Folio" of choice. From there we offer bespoke packages within our product range to suit your requirements. Of course there are limitations with our product range. However understanding your requirements will be vastly different from others, we work closely with you on your product choices (including large format Fine Art wall prints) to suit your decor or, how you wish to share your images and prints with your loved ones. "Albums" are not something we offer as we believe our hand crafted Folios offer a far more long lasting and bespoke approach to both store and display, or share, your heirloom prints. Please visit the Heirloom page for further details.
